Bursitis Treatment
If bursitis treatment is not adopted early after injury, the damaged joint could develop a nagging, chronic pain that just won’t go away. Immediately after injury there are two very simple things you can do:
1. Rest and protect the injured area. Limiting the movement and activity of the joint will reduce the likelihood of injuring it further. However, if the bursitis is more advanced, medication may be required. Anti-inflammatory medications are usually used for this kind of injury. These would include drugs like ibuprofin, aspirin, and motrin. If this bursitis treatment still doesn’t seem to be helping, you may be in line for a cortisone injection.
These bursitis treatments should help alleviate the discomfort caused by the joint inflammation. To prevent this from happening again, there are a few things that can be done. First, avoid reinitiation of bursitis treatments by strengthening the joint. Often this bursitis treatment includes some form of physical therapy. Another simple preventative bursitis treatment is to avoid repetitive tasks with that joint, and if they are unavoidable, take breaks. On top of this, always think of ways to protect yourself either by avoiding certain movements or postures, or using padding when applicable.
